How did I get to be Nr 1.

How did I get to be Nr 1.
So basically it all started before finishing the game.
I have a discussion with TheGuardian about how much I want to finish the game and after that to see how much time I can be Nr. 1.
He told me that he wants to be number one.

Of curse I found the desire to be Nr 1 unrealistic and I was hopping in reality to be more like in the TOP 5 players. And it seems the same is true for TheGuardian.
I wasn't thinking that I have any chance against the old good Xeno http://www.supremestrategy.com players.

Let's start clarifying some aspects first:
1. the place in the top is NOT a real measure of the player power! (You can easily get owned by an alliance or even by a very aggressive player )
2. Playing the game is really important. Joining a alliance, making trades, taking the right decisions etc will take you to the top.
3. With out a proper building order you can not be in the top.
4. You have to be active ... very active.
5. Enjoy the game! Have fun! Don't try to get buildings that you can not sustain financially and which don't help you.

Take it easy. Make it fun.

ps.
I will lock this topic because I want it to be like some guide lines for the new players. If somebody want's to comment on this I will make a clone of the topic somewhere else.

Re: How did I get to be Nr 1.

I forgot to mention:

6. I don't use any production Bonuses.
7. Small population could mean big army.

I think the build order is the most important thing at beginning.
This is why the build tree at start is limited and you have very few options. I wanted that even people who don't know how to play to make the right 'decisions', and have one solid foundation for the rest of the game.

I think at beginning there are 2 possible ways to develop:
a. A warrior path. (More fitted for aggressive players and probably the mots profitable in the long run. )
b. A more passive role. (Technologist, Colonist, Constructor ... I don't know exactly how to call it.)

I don't know if this building orders are really useful because I started on a Constructor start and after that switched to a Warrior path. So I'm somewhere between.

a. A warrior path build order:

Housing
Erythium Mine
Argon Extractor
Solar Plant
E.D.E.N. Farm
Asgard to Level 2
Armor Barracks
Barracks to Level 1
Armor Barracks to Level 2
Upgrade Combat Simulations to Level 1
Asgard to Level 3
1 Space Marine
Housing to Level 2
Barracks to Level 2
Stargate to Level 1
1 Space Marine
Start raiding Mines

b. Constructor path build order

Housing
Erythium Mine
Argon Extractor
Solar Plant
E.D.E.N. Farm
Erythium Mine to Level 2
Erythium Mine to Level 2
Erythium Mine to Level 2
Erythium Mine to Level 2
Erythium Mine to Level 2
Erythium Mine to Level 2
Argon Extractor to Level 2
Argon Extractor to Level 2
Argon Extractor to Level 2
Argon Extractor to Level 2
Argon Extractor to Level 2
Argon Extractor to Level 2
Solar Plant to Level 2
Housing to Level 2
Solar Plant to Level 2
Solar Plant to Level 2
Solar Plant to Level 2
Solar Plant to Level 2
Solar Plant to Level 2
E.D.E.N. Farm to Level 2
E.D.E.N. Farm to Level 2
E.D.E.N. Farm to Level 2
E.D.E.N. Farm to Level 2
E.D.E.N. Farm to Level 2
E.D.E.N. Farm to Level 2
Storage Facility to Level 1
Storage Facility to Level 2
Biospheres to Level 1
Asgard to Level 2

If you plan to be a aggressive player, playing a lot of time you can chose the Warrior path, if not chose the Constructor path.

:!: !Remember!
Attacking is the key to fastest evolution in the game.

Re: How did I get to be Nr 1.

After that I been missing few days. And when I come back I had lot of BC and I made a lot of (fun) buildings.

I checked the progress of the players to see how they are developing.
Mistakes that I seen people doing:
1. Not setting the taxes at max.
2. Not upgrading E.D.E.N Farms.
Food grows the quickest, so upgrading food will mean getting more BC faster! Also food Is very demanded on the market.
3. Trying to get the resources to max out, even when you have enough BC to build something. This is bad. Instead of waiting 2-3 days to get Max BC, build some E.D.E.N Farms which will give you extra BC production.

Remember high level E.D.E.N Farms is one of the keys to faster grow of the colony.
