Suggestions for Races

I had the idea of a traders race which has advantages in the resource production and freightrooms of transporters but disadvantages in the Military

i thought like
150% Resource production overall (before taxes)
1800 space in a transporter
faster transports

doubled costs of Military units
less Speed of units
less Advantages of defense buildings

EDIT:
And for races generally i would suggest a period of 30 days between 2 changes and maybe some requirements for the races like an amount of a building or eg for traders an amont of BC

i like the idea but i think traders are looking for a profit so they would protect there asset's resulting in better economy and defense and a downfall in offense probably virtually none and covert would be hurt a bit to

I think that having different races would be a good idea, but I'm not sure how you would make it fair and still interesting

You could do something along the lines of an offensive race, defensive race, and balanced race, but I'm not sure that would make a lot of sense. You would have to have some way of making each race have an advantage with how they work (The offensive race could have units that are better at attacking, but are weak defenders. The defensive race would have units that are better at attacking. etc.) I don't mind this idea, but I have seen other browser games do this and it can work, but people will only end up building the best unit which can kind of get boring.

Another idea is that you could make a countering system like that of some real time strategy games (such as Starcraft) where some units beat other units. It can make things interesting because you would need to check what your enemy has and send what would best fight their units. I don't know if anyone on this game has played Starcraft, but if you need some more detail I would be happy to give some more.

My last idea is that you do something along the lines of a some what game called Master of Orion where you just give each race certain bonuses like extra energy production, faster building or stealthy ships. Maybe you could even have the players get some many points and then pick their bonuses. I could also provide some more detail for this option.

Anyone have anything to say about any of these ideas or have better ideas?

Thank you for the ideas, Jonnothin. My personal opinion for new races would be "traders" and "warriors". For warriors, I would like a fast paced race which has cheap military units but can train them quick, pretty much like StarCraft's Zerg.

good idea, but I think switching races should cost crystals. I mean, or else you could just keep switching and reap the benefits.
