A parsec is that one "tiny" square in which your colony stands. You will need to upgrade Destiny to reach further and further away. Obviously, there would be a "point of no return" (when you reached level 30). Anyway, the idea is that, unlike in our other space browser game, you can't travel all over the map and than complain it takes painful hours to reach a destination. If you want to reach further away, you will need to create a new outpost, which is not an easy task to accomplish.

Obviously, you will need Destiny to use your ships; otherwise your fleet is obsolete, having no means of transportation. Perhaps there is room for tweaking, but we will know for sure once a lot of players make use of Destiny carrier. Thanks though for pointing out the "parsec" issue. The obvious for me is not always the obvious for other people, as we are always trying to do our best to ease the understanding and playing experience for you, the players.
